Rainbow Sports History
The humble beginnings of Rainbow Sports, Inc., began with owner Rod ‘s first ride on wheels at the age of one - and it made an impression on him. (Ask his brother Dan!) Over the next few years Rod was introduced to a variety of wheels with motors by his uncles, dad and brother. At age eleven, he built his first motorized mini-bike with scraps he collected from the local salvage yard along with pieces he dug out of the trash. And yes, it did run! The brakeless wonder was responsible for Rod’s first motorcycle raspberry and his future addiction for powersports. From that point on, Rod Reim slept, ate, and rode motorcycles.
After a year or so of hands-on experience, he began riding better and crashing less, and soon found his way into his first motorcycle race. (Another long story, ask his Uncle Dale.) Riding a 175cc Moto Parilla, Rod placed second, riding against older, more experienced riders. Life was good until his Mom found out! Rod’s racing career was on a temporary hold until he moved out of his parent’s home. He bought his first race bike, a 1972 Yamaha MX250 to begin his racing career. Rod began racing and riding regularly and has never looked back.
Over the years he has participated in hundreds of races and ridden in several championships on all kinds of machines. Rod won many different types of series championships and awards. The only reason he needed to ride was because "IT WAS FUN"
Motorcycle racing and motorcycle friends helped Rod find his way into the complex world of the powersports business. In 1985, he opened Rainbow Cycle & ATV, in Enid, a small accessory shop. Rod called it "Rainbow" because every color of the rainbow was represented a different brand of motorcycle--and he liked them all. He added the Yamaha motorcycle and ATV franchise in November of 1985 and the first color to the RAINBOW was added.
By March of 1988, Rod and his staff had outgrown their original building and moved to South Van Buren in Enid, Oklahoma, a sign shop, a gas station, and a meat market all combined for a larger building on the main highway. In 1995, after completing a building expansion and remodel at the same location, Honda Motorcycles and ATV's were added to the product mix, the second color to the RAINBOW was added. In 2002, Rainbow Sports added Kawasaki Motorcycles and ATV's, and with that addition, Rainbow Sports was once again out of expansion room and bursting out of the seams – it was time to make a major expansion or move to a larger building, so move they did.
In January of 2004, an all-new Rainbow Sports opened in their present location at 2610 W. Owen K. Garriott in Enid. Their main building is bigger than ever and able to display all three of their major lines in the comfort of a showroom atmosphere for their customers. This facility more than doubled their previous space and they have it stocked full of "Your Colors of Fun!"
After 25 years in business, the reason that Rainbow Sports "works" for each and every customer is directly related to the staff Rod has in place. All of their employees are dedicated, hard workers and have great problem-solving skills. Our Rainbow Ride Team loves all brands and models of motorcycles and is motivated to making and keeping every single customer happy and completely satisfied.
"Everyone here at Rainbow knows that repeat customers are the foundation of our business," said Rod, "and without them we wouldn't be here. We want every experience at Rainbow Sports to be as Fun and as exciting as the motorcycles we are selling and riding! We invite you to come visit our showroom often and select from "Your Colors of Fun!"
"A business is judged in many ways, but longevity in our area is a major criteria of business success. We've been in business long enough now that we are selling bikes to the next generations - children and grandchildren of our "old" riding buddies! I believe our longevity is a direct result of meeting and exceeding the needs and expectations of our customers. Come join us as we double jump into our next 25 years!"
